4.10.3. Forces Transferred to Foundations

The forces to be transferred from the building to the foundation will be determined as follows, based on the design of the foundations with the bearing capacity approach within the scope of Chapter 16 .

According to the definition given in 4.10.3.1 - 3.3.1 in buildings without basement or in buildings with basement, in cases where the critical wall height starts from the foundation top level,

(a) The bending (overturning) moment transferred from the wall to the foundation will be obtained by multiplying the bending moment in the wall base section by the upper coefficient D of the upper section . However, this bending moment shall not be taken greater than the yield moment at the wall base in walls with high ductility level . The shear force transferred from reinforced concrete wall to the foundation is the force defined according to 7.6.6.3 at the wall base section .

(b) In such buildings, the internal forces to be transferred to the foundation from the other internal force components of the walls and other elements other than the curtains will be obtained by multiplying the internal forces against the ductile design by 0.6D top according to 4.10.1.1 .

4.10.3.2 - In buildings with basement according to the definition given in 3.3.1 , in cases where the critical wall height starts above the foundation top level, the internal forces to be transferred from all elements to the foundation, including the bending moments and shear forces transferred from the walls , according to 4.10.1.5 . will be calculated.
