Foundation Tie Design Settings Section

With the Foundation Tie Design Settings, the design parameters used in the Concrete Foundation Tie Design, which are modeled together with Concrete Single Footing and Strip Foundation, are determined. Concrete cover, maximum and minimum reinforcement interval, etc. parameters are determined from the foundation tie design settings window.

Parameters denoted with “%” refer to the reinforcement ratio expressed as a percentage—that is, the ratio of the area of reinforcing steel to the gross cross‑sectional area of the concrete element, multiplied by 100.

For instance:

  • A minimum reinforcement ratio of 1% corresponds to a steel area equal to 1% of the concrete section.

  • Since a reinforcement ratio of 0.01 (i.e. 0.01 × 100) equals 1%, the value “1” should be entered for this parameter.

All percentage values must be entered as the ratio multiplied by 100. If your design software requires integer percentages, round to the nearest whole number.

Specifications

Concrete cover

It is the distance from the center of gravity of the tension or compression rebar in the foundation tie to the outer face of the concrete.

Min. tensile percentage

image-20250107-114046.png

It is the parameter that determines the minimum rebar to be placed in the tensile zone in the foundation tie. Under no circumstances can the rebar be less than the limit set by this parameter.

Maximum percentage

image-20250107-114059.png

It determines the upper limit of the tensile rebar to be placed on the foundation tie. Under no circumstances can the rebar exceed the limit specified by this parameter. If it is too much, the program will give the message "section is insufficient" for the foundation tie where the maximum strength is higher.

Min. B for double stirrup

The foundation tie width is compared with this parameter. As long as the width of the foundation tie does not exceed the minimum width specified in this parameter, the tie beams are reinforced with a double arm stirrup. Otherwise, they are equipped with 2 double-armed stirrups.

H for body reinforcement

If the height of the foundation tie is more than the value specified in this parameter, the web rebar is placed on the beam.

Min. stirrup interval

The spacing of the stirrup to be placed on the foundation tie is chosen not to be less than the value specified in this parameter.

Max. stirrup interval

The spacing of the stirrup to be placed on the foundation tie is chosen not to be more than the value specified in this parameter.

Max. mounting interval

It has no function for foundation tie.
