Diaphragm Reinforcement Detailing per ACI 318-19 with ideCAD

How does ideCAD control diaphragm reinforcement detailing according to ACI 318-19?

  • Reinforcement detailing is applied automatically in accordance with ACI 10.7.

Concrete cover for reinforcement is determined according to 20.5.1. The minimum specified concrete cover for nonprestressed cast-in-place slabs is determined according to Table 20.5.1.3.1.

Development lengths of deformed reinforcement is determined according to 25.4. Detailed information: Development of Reinforcement per ACI 318-19 with ideCAD.

Splices of deformed reinforcement is determined according to 25.5. Detailed information: Splices per ACI 318-19 with ideCAD.

Spacing

The minimum spacing of reinforcement s is determined according to 25.2. Detailed information: Minimum Spacing of Reinforcement per ACI 318-19 with ideCAD.

Maximum spacing, s, of deformed reinforcement, is the lesser of 5h and 18 in.

Diaphragm and collector reinforcement

Diaphragms, which are part of the floor or roof, are designed according to one-way and two-way slab reinforcement detailing automatically.

One-way slabs are provided the rules explained in One-Way Slab Reinforcement Detailing per ACI 318-19 with ideCAD (v12). Two-way slabs are provided the rules explained in Two-Way Slab Reinforcement Detailing per ACI 318-19 with ideCAD (v12).

Reinforcement provided to resist tension extends beyond the point at which it is no longer required to resist tension at least ld, except at diaphragm edges and expansion joints.
