Steel brace axial force strength not satisfied.

This message is created by specifying the element name and floor on which it is located at the beginning of the report.

For example,

SBR001 BASE STORY Axial force strength not satisfied.

In steel brace design, the design ratio under axial force, tension force, and compression force, buckling limit states are considered according to CYTHYE 2016 (GKT & YDKT), AISC 360-16 (ASD & LRFD) or EN 1993-1-1 codes.

  • The design ratio value should be less than 1.00.

Possible Solutions:

  • Brace length can be reduced. If the element length is reduced, the axial compressive strength increases.

  • Steel element cross-section can be enlarged.
