Performance Level Definition (5.1.3)

  • The earthquake ground motion level, building height and building usage class are entered by the user.

  • Performance target analysis settings wizard are determined automatically according to earthquake ground motion level and building height class.

ICONS

BYS = Building altitude class
DTS = Earthquake design class
DD-1 = Earthquake ground motion level
DD-2 with a probability of exceeding 2% (recurrence period 2475 years) in 50 years = earthquake ground with a probability of exceeding 10% in 50 years (recurrence period 475 years) motion level
DD-3 = earthquake ground motion level with 50% probability of exceedance in 50 years (recurrence period 72 years)
DD-4 = earthquake ground motion level with 68% probability of exceedance in 50 years (recurrence period 43 years)
I = Building importance coefficient

Performance targets to be taken as basis in Evaluation and Retrofitting of High-rise buildings and Existing Buildings within the scope of Evaluation and Design According to Shape Change (UGDT) are defined in Table 3.4 of TDBY .

In this case, according to Table 3.4 (a) , if the Earthquake Design Class is DTS = 1a or DTS = 2a and the building height class is BYS≥2, the DD-3 and DD-1 earthquake ground motions should be applied. Performance target for DD-3 earthquake should be Limited Damage (SH) and for DD-1 earthquake the performance target should be Controlled Damage (KH). In these buildings, for both DD-1 and DD-3 earthquakes, the ŞGDT approach should be applied.

According to Table 3.4 (b) , for all Seismic Design Classes of tall buildings (new to be built and existing) with BYS = 1, the SDDT approach should be applied. Buildings with DTS = 1,2,3,3a, 4,4a and BYS = 1 will be applied the ŞGDT approach so that the performance target under DD-1 earthquake ground motion is the pre-collapse (LO). Similarly, in buildings with DTS = 1a, 2a and BYS = 1 defined as Advanced performance targets, performance target under DD-1 earthquake ground motion is Controlled Damage (KH) and DD-3 under the effect of earthquake ground motion Performance target Limited Damage (SH) ŞGDT approach will be applied.

According to Table 3.4 (c) , the ŞGDT approach will be applied so that the performance target under DD-2 earthquake ground motion is Controlled Damage (KH) for existing buildings with DTS = 1,2,3,3a, 4,4a and BYS≥2. Similarly, in existing buildings with DTS = 1a, 2a and BYS≥2 defined as advanced performance targets, the performance target under the influence of DD-1 earthquake ground motion Controlled Damage (KH) and DD-3 under the effect of earthquake ground motion Performance target Limited Damage (SH ) ŞGDT approach will be applied.
