LRFD
Load Resistance Factor Design is based on the principle that the strength value for all structural members is equal to or greater than the required strength calculated with the loads and loading combinations mentioned in the regulation. LRFD use different load factors for each load combinations and different reduction factors for strength.
Structural Safety
The LRFD provides realistic structural safety thanks to the precise statistical studies performed in load estimation, determination of safety coefficients for the load combinations and is more economical due to plastic design rules.
